We're fundraising for Children in Need

Posted: 8th November, 2018

Having earned more than £972 million since the 1980s when first broadcast on TV, BBC Children in Need is one of our country's biggest charity fundraisers with money helping disadvantaged children and young adults right here in the UK as well as abroad. We're supporting the annual appeal next Friday with our very own mix of exciting fundraising activities ranging from baking competitions and brew making by our directors to raffles and quizzes.

Prepare for four months of arctic weather with Quill

Posted: 18th October, 2018

Long-range weather forecasts predict freezing temperatures, heavy snow and icy storms beginning as early as November and continuing for four months. As a nation, we simply don't cope well with severe wintry conditions and our travel network, particularly, struggles to maintain any semblance of normality. For businesses this means one thing: protracted disruption as staff can't journey into the office. It's heartening to know there's an easy way to protect your organisation from weather-induced disaster: outsourcing. With Quill, choose to outsource your payroll and pension management. After all, can you fail to be tempted by 247, 365 cover in the run up to winter?

Charity news: Children In Need, Christmas foodbanks and blood donations

Posted: 18th October, 2018

With Children In Need just around the corner, we're planning our usual bake sale, all-you-can-eat buffet and raffle to raise money for disadvantaged and poorly children. Christmas is only a few weeks away too, so we're holding collections of food, toiletries, toys and gifts on behalf of regional appeals. Finally, we held another group blood donation session last week and our very own Steven Shaw (photographed here) has recently pledged his 25th blood donation over a 9-year period.

Cheque for £3k+ given to Anthony Nolan charity

Posted: 19th July, 2018

Having sadly lost our long-serving director, Peter Dye, to blood cancer recently, this year's main annual fundraiser was in aid of Anthony Nolan, a charity that uses its register to match potential stem cell donors to blood cancer and blood disorder patients in need of stem cell transplants. A team of 12 members of staff and a wider group of family and friends took part in the Salford Dragon Boat Race, held on 20th May at Salford Quays, an event chosen because Peter was a sailing enthusiast. Today we presented £3,021 to Anthony Nolan in an attempt to make a difference to people like Peter in the future. Read more.

Posted: 9th May, 2018

In our latest case study, Imran Khawaja, Managing Partner at Armstrong & Co Solicitors in London, explains how the practice first began using our outsourced payroll service in 2013. To support company growth, the practice recently recruited an in-house cashier and started doing its own payroll for a short period before reverting back to Quill when things didn't work out. We're getting wet for charity

Posted: 3rd April, 2018

We're excited to announce that this year's main charity fundraising event is the Salford Dragon Boat Race, taking place on Sunday 20th May at Salford Quays. Our teams of 16 paddlers will participate in three qualifying races over the 180 metres of Ontario Dock and (hopefully) battle it out int he grand final. Our charity is Anthony Nolan, a trust set up in 1974 to match blood stem and bone marrow donors to people with blood cancer or blood disorders who desperately need lifesaving transplants. Having lost our long-serving director, Peter Dye, to blood cancer earlier this year, we're supporting the charity that gives aid to people with the illness which tragically took Peter's life. We're also doing something that was Peter's passion in life - sailing.
