2019 charity fundraising round up

Posted: 23rd January, 2020

Whilst many of us at Quill could be accused of having big mouths or big heads, one thing we definitely do have is big hearts. You see, we have an in-house charity committee, run by employee volunteers, which organises a vast array of fundraising activities for worthy causes.

In 2019, we pledged over £3,500 to various charities plus donated gifts such as Easter eggs for poorly children, Valentine's cards for care home patients, Christmas presents and essential day-to-day items for struggling families and the homeless.

The biggest proportion of monies raised was given to our charity of the year, Cancer Research UK, but many many other charities received funds too, these being the British Heart Foundation, Everyone Can, Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary, Blythe House Hospice, Woodland Trust, Child Brain Injury Trust, Amelia-Mae Foundation, Pancreatic Cancer Charity, Aspire Arts Foundation, Macmillan Cancer Support, Teenage Cancer Trust, St Ann's Hospice, Alder Hey Children's Charity, Eva Women's Aid, Zoe's Place Baby Hospice, Save the Children, Whitechapel Centre, Coatham House, R Charity and Clock Tower Sanctuary.

We undertook a range of inclusive events including a mega Quillathlon challenge whereby we travelled virtually 7,940 miles to our furthest-away client in the Falkland Islands, quizzes, bake sales, raffles, dress down days and Christmas Jumper Day. Not only did our staff get involved, our clients, suppliers and partners did too. We thank you kindly on behalf of our chosen charities for your generosity.

At the beginning of this new year, our charity committee members are busy putting their heads together and collating ideas for 2020 fundraising. They're not all focused on money either. Sometimes activities are about giving time and goodwill to those less fortunate than ourselves. Watch this space for future announcements and please continue supporting us when you can.
