Julian Bryan has been Managing Director of Quill since 2012 and has led the company through a period of significant commercial growth as well as structural reorganisation.
Passionate about developing services and software that deliver tangible benefit to users, Julian has been instrumental in introducing enhancements to the company’s varied solution range, including outsourced payroll and pension management service. Equally important to Julian are the benefits of engaging his employees and he has set about the task of making his company ‘one of the best places to work’.
Prior to Quill, Julian was Managing Director of Veterinary Solutions Ltd, which he grew from 300 to 1400 clients in ten years. Julian has extensive experience in delivering software and service solutions to food producers, veterinary surgeons, dentists and, most recently, solicitors.
Julian is now working a long way from his agricultural roots but retains his interest by ‘farming’ a vegetable patch in his garden. He is married to Carolyn and they have a daughter, Alexandra, who is a keen marketer.
Richard is Quill's IT Director, a position held for 10 years. He's responsible for the ongoing development of our Interactive legal accounts, case management and document management software by enhancing existing features and adding new functionality to fulfil market requirements.
Over recent months, Richard helped launch our Police Station App, fully synchronised with Interactive, to support criminal lawyers attending station visits. This is just one of many positive steps taken to evolve our software solutions to meet the exacting demands of present-day, busy lawyers and their back office teams, another of which was moving our entire user base (both clients and staff) from on-premise servers to a brand new cloud-based infrastructure.
Having extended our dedicated Brighton-based R&D branch from three to twelve employees including testers and a product manager, Richard and his team constantly research new technologies and industry trends then develop our applications with modern processes and quality at the heart of every project.
Richard has actually worked at Quill for some 18 years, beginning as R&D Manager and progressing to Group IT Manager before taking up his current post in 2008. As a key member of our board of directors, Richard plays a major role in devising Quill's strategic direction.
Married with two teenage sons, Richard is a keen runner and completed the Vitality Brighton Half Marathon, raising money for Cancer Research UK in the process.
