Julian Bryan has been Managing Director of Quill since 2012 and has led the company through a period of significant commercial growth as well as structural reorganisation.
Passionate about developing services and software that deliver tangible benefit to users, Julian has been instrumental in introducing enhancements to the company’s varied solution range, including outsourced payroll and pension management service. Equally important to Julian are the benefits of engaging his employees and he has set about the task of making his company ‘one of the best places to work’.
Prior to Quill, Julian was Managing Director of Veterinary Solutions Ltd, which he grew from 300 to 1400 clients in ten years. Julian has extensive experience in delivering software and service solutions to food producers, veterinary surgeons, dentists and, most recently, solicitors.
Julian is now working a long way from his agricultural roots but retains his interest by ‘farming’ a vegetable patch in his garden. He is married to Carolyn and they have a daughter, Alexandra, who is a keen marketer.
In a position held for over 17 years, as IT Director, Richard is responsible for the ongoing development of Quill's market-leading software package for law firms, Interactive, by enhancing existing features and adding new functionality to fulfil market requirements.
Tom joined us in 2016 as Client Services Director and is responsible for all client-facing services which includes support for outsourced payroll users.
Tom has a key operational role and strong client focus at Quill, and brings 20 years of experience within the legal industry. Most recently, Tom was Operations Director at a leading motor insurance legal services business where he created and was responsible for a 200 seat outsourced insurance claims function, outsourced claims handling and hosted claims solution. Tom helped grow the business from less than 100 staff to 850+ over a 10 year period.
Tom is passionate about quality of service and is driven to continually exceeding customer expectations.
In his spare time, Tom enjoys mountain biking, hill walking, and spending time with family and friends. As a keen outdoors type, the Lake District is one of Tom's favourite and most-visited places. Tom is married to Sarah and they have a young daughter, Chloe, who keeps them on their toes!
Chris manages the outsourced payroll team, ensuring that all procedures, from BACS and PAYE payments through to payslip and report production, comply with HMRC guidelines and data legislation.
With her extensive experience in payroll management - Chris has worked in payroll for over 10 years - an important part of her role is supporting team members with their payroll-related queries and ensuring continuity of service provision during holidays or other absences.
Chris has been to university twice. First time round, she completed a degree in International Business with Italian and was fortunate enough to subsequently live in Rome for a year to practice her newly acquired language skills. Second time round, more recently, Chris achieved a foundation degree in Payroll Management.
She's married to Eric, born and bred in Liverpool, loves socialising, shopping and holidays (especially in the sun). Chris is from a really big family – she's one of 9 children - so enjoys spending time with her family when off work.
Sarah joined Quill in 2007 and, as a long-serving employee, has deep knowledge of our outsourced payroll and bookkeeping services, the division for which she’s Sales Consultant.
Sarah’s a pivotal member of our sales and account management team, maintaining relationships with existing customers and seeking to forge new connections with prospective customers.
Our outsourced payroll service is provided either direct or on a white label basis. In the latter type of set up, we become a ‘silent partner’ for accountancy firms whereby we process the payroll but, as far as end users are aware, it’s their accountant doing the work.
It’s Sarah’s role to liaise with both individual companies enlisting outsourced payroll and bookkeeping support, and accountants who want to extend their service offerings without the inconvenience of managing the payroll element themselves.
Sarah’s work demands regular on-site client visits, and attendance at related professional events and exhibitions for networking purposes.
Like any good socialite, Sarah enjoys nights out with friends, family and colleagues, eating and drinking in Manchester's eclectic range of restaurants and bars. To combat the side effects of her busy social life, Sarah follows a strict fitness regime and regularly tackles challenging charity fundraisers such as Tough Mudder and Yorkshire's Three Peaks.
Sarah’s engaged to her partner, Andrew, and they’re proud parents to Alfie. Sarah’s an active participant in the ‘mums and babies who lunch’ crowd on the days she’s not at work!
